Cas Abao: white sand, calm water and perfect for kids

Cas Abao (also spelled Cas Abou) sits on Curaçao's southwest coast and shows up in nearly every list of the island's most beautiful beaches. From My Paradiso Curaçao it's roughly a 45-minute drive, a scenic ride through the quiet western part of the island.

Why Cas Abao?

• White sand and calm, clear water that deepens gradually, making the beach suitable for young children too.
• Snorkeling right off the beach: the reef is a short swim from the shore.
• Everything within reach: beach beds and parasols for rent, a restaurant with bar, showers and toilets.

Practical

• Entrance fee: at the time of writing ƒ10 per car (ƒ12.50 on Sundays and public holidays) for up to four people, plus ƒ2.50 per extra person. Check the current rates before you go.
• Opening hours: daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
• Crowds: weekends and school holidays get busy; come on a weekday or early in the morning for the quietest spot.
